The product arrived quickly and in pretty good shape. The boxes were just a little bit bent, no biggee. It wasnt any cheaper that at the store but I dont drive so it was more convenient.

I started using prilosec for severe acid reflux a couple of years ago as a preventive after years of treating symptoms with other drugs like Tagamet. Those drugs worked fine, but I wanted to prevent reflux all the time without having to plan ahead.

At the time, I experienced reflux heartburn at least four nights per week. Not only was it interfering with my sleep and happiness, it had burned my esophagus to the point where I was experiencing "hanging" food -- rough pieces of food hanging up on the scar tissue in the esophagus, which caused discomfort and occasional vomiting. In addition, certain strong liquids, such as neat whiskey, which I greatly enjoy, burned so much going down that I had to stop drinking them.

Two years later, after steady daily use of Prilosec, I do not experience any reflux symptoms. Not only that, my esophagus has healed almost completely. I very rarely have a food hang-up episode (maybe twice a year), and Im able to eat and drink anything I want without concern about reflux heartburn.

Although the package says to use for a 14-day cycle, my gastro doc told me not to worry about that and use it as long as it works for me. So far, Ive had no side effects. Its possible there could be some minor or major issue from using this for years and years, but it has literally changed my life. I have to say its worth the risk, and my doc thinks so too.

IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE READ DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING

Prilosec OTC saved the day for me on numerous occasions when I had heartburn. This drug also fights acid in your stomach and thats a big help! The tablets are easy to swallow and you should use them before any expiration date printed on the outside of the purple box.

My one complaint is that Prilosec takes one to four days for it to give you the full effect. Although they say that some people get full relief in one day, it took me a couple of days to get the full effect. If you must have total relief from your stomach trouble right away then you need to choose another drug. This does disappoint me so I will take off one star to make this a four star review.

Of course, if you have any questions about this drug that arent addressed on the outside package then you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Overall, Prilosec worked for me and I hope you get relief from it. It isnt for everybody because it can take one to four days for people to get the "full effect" but it does help many, many people.

Ten years ago after being diagnosed with asthma by my family practitioner I began seeing the top specialist in Dallas. Allergy testing showed that I was severely allergic to dust mites. He put me on a prescription for Zyrtec, and I have been taking it daily ever since. My allergy and asthma are kept in control. It might make you drowsy at first, but taking regularly, within in few days it should not affect you that way any longer. After it went OTC last year I bought it at the grocery store for $27. This price is terrific, as is the product.

Ive had multiple killer allergies since I was a kid. I was the one in elementary school with a humongous wad of tissue that would be used up before schools end, and then Id have to use toilet paper on my runny nose.

When better antihistamines came out when I was older, I was trying them all--hismanal (remember that one?), Claritin, Allegra. But Zyrtec is the most effective one of them all. While Ill still have a reaction if I get a big exposure to a major allergen (say dust or cats), this allows me to function.

Ive tested it over the years by going a few days without and, inevitably, as it leaves my system, my eyes will itch, my throat will get scratchy, my nose will run. I run right back to it.

This now OTC drug has been a lifesaver for this allergy sufferer. Until a cure is found, I need this and singulair and inhaled steroids, even after going through the injection treatments twice--once as a teen, one in my late thirties. I am not made drowsy by it, either.

I keep the hope of a cure, but I keep my medicine cabinet stocked with Zyrtec along with my RX meds.

For those that suffer with frequent heartburn or have frequent instances of gastric reflux, Prilosec is a literal lifesaver.

Stomach acid is strong stuff (pH of 1), and belongs in the stomach, not in the esophagus, where it can cause burning of the esophageal lining (heartburn). If this happens frequently, the esophagus can be badly damaged. Gastro-Esophageal Reflex Disease (GERD)can also cause severe erosive damage to the teeth if stomach acid is burped into the mouth frequently. The tooth enamel is literally eroded away, and teeth become very sensitive and permanently damaged.

To save your teeth and esophagus, Prilosec has come to the rescue. Prilosec is a former prescription product in a class of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. This means that the effect of Prilosec is to dramatically decrease stomach acid production. This is also beneficial for treatment of stomach ulcers, which need a minimal acid environment to heal. After losing my prescription benefits when I changed jobs due to pre-existing condition rules, I could not afford to purchase Protonix, a very effective acid reflux reducer. Not being able to imagine more days of painful regurgitation, I ran to the store to see what they had to offer. I tried a few over the counters, had a few bad acid days and finally tried Prilosec OTC. It relieved my symptoms as well as Protonix.

The only bummer is that I have to take it every day - not just for 14 days at a time. My doctor tells me this is alright and will have no long term ill effects.

I use Prilosec to control chronic excess acid production and the resulting discomfort. I experimented briefly with a more potent prescription medicine that became available at about the time that P. became available over the counter. Not only am I back on Prilosec but I have had good success with gradually reducing the dosage from one tablet per day to now less than 1/2 - with the goal of getting "off" this medicine entirely. The cost of Prilosec is less than that of prescription medicines - less than that of a newer prescription medicine, and less than Prilosecs cost when it still required a prescription. Im prone to ulcers and other GI problems, so Im under doctors orders to take this daily (not just for the 14 day dosage). Believe me, when i skip more than a day, I notice it! This stuff works better than any prescription Ive been on! No wonder my local drug stores cant keep it stocked!

I have not found this product for less than $28 B-4 tax in my area. I bought a five month supply saving $35.

I have tried Tums, Pepcid AC, Zantac 150, and Alka-seltzer. Often all in the same day. Always my acid reflux and stomach trouble came back in just a few hours.

This is the ONLY non Rx medicine I have found that truely works and lasts for 24 hrs. Yes, it seems expensive. However Rx products such as Aciphex and Protonix are over $100 per month.

The reason this works is because most Acid reducers merely try to dilute acid that already exists in the stomach. Prilosec, being an PPI actully turns off some of the pumps that pour acid into the stomach, effectively reducing the caustic stuff.

The relatively small tablets are easy to swallow and you should use them before any expiration date printed on the outside of the purple box. I like that this version of Prilosec is delayed release that way you get the effect of the drug--and the relief of your symptoms--over a longer period of time. Thats a big plus in my book!
